General Vitamin Supplement Manufacturers from China

Hi,

We are planning to manufacture general vitamin supplements in China, and our manufacturer has all the necessary certifications, including NSF, GMP, FDA, ISO, HACCP, and COA.

Could anyone please advise us on the following:

As brand owners, do we need any specific certifications, licenses, or lab tests to sell dietary supplements on Amazon USA and in the U.S. market?

Is general liability insurance required for selling supplements?

Regarding Amazon's Dietary Supplement Compliance Checklist, point number 1 states that "Supplements must be sealed in the original manufacturer’s packaging." If the supplements are sealed by our manufacturer in China with our brand name, do we need to include the manufacturer's name and address on the supplement bottles/boxes, or should we list our U.S. address instead?

We would greatly appreciate any guidance on these matters and thank you all in advance for your assistance.

Thank you!

Hello @Seller_EldX9YBXspTbT,

My name is Dougal from the Community Manager Team and I am happy to assist. Responses are indented below a copy/paste of your question:

As brand owners, do we need any specific certifications, licenses, or lab tests to sell dietary supplements on Amazon USA and in the U.S. market?

  • Yes, the specifics of what you need would vary based on your individual situation, but you can find the policy and compliance on the Dietary supplements help page (Note, this page is in the food and compliance section of Seller Help).

Is general liability insurance required for selling supplements?

If the supplements are sealed by our manufacturer in China with our brand name, do we need to include the manufacturer's name and address on the supplement bottles/boxes, or should we list our U.S. address instead?

  • In the labeling instructions just below the section you quoted from the Dietary supplements help page (Note, this page is in the restricted products section of Seller Help) are 5 elements of required information that have to be included on the label. One of which is "The name and address of the manufacturer, packer, or distributor."

Hope this helps and please let me know if you have any other questions.

Best, Dougal
