Please do something about all the returns
90 percent of returns are fraudulent.
And when you do get the right item back it's used. It's ridiculous

Auto returns are simply unacceptable.
We need to have the ability to vet our returns again before the customer is given a return label or return address.
It has created an environment where return fraud is rampant.

Unfortunately that is what we signed up for when selling on here. Yes, it is getting worse. We had to raise our prices just because of the returns.

I agree, returns are out of control. We have on average a book returned every other day. And over 99% of those are all for ridiculous reasons. Of course these deceptive buyers always return for “defective item” reason so they don’t have to pay return shipping, even when they state they either don’t want it anymore or bought the wrong thing. Hours and hours spent on safe-t claims, that are denied over and over. Then by far the worst cost is the hidden shipping adjustments because the customer shipped the book back in a giant box. Even if you are lucky enough to get your safe-t claim approved those huge shipping adjustment costs are never covered. How long can this abuse go on?

Would be a miracle if Amazon actually did anything about this. Anytime we try to charge a restocking fee, we are usually forced by Amazon to relinquish the restocking fee. It has gotten horrible.

Yep I just got 3 returns today and the customer claimed no longer needed, all were returned used and missing parts. So now I have to waste time taking pictures and file claims

only option is to raise prices or sell unreturnable items. Amazon doesn't care

I feel suffocated on the margins and that's after me cutting the business "fat" down to one man operation. How the heck is everyone even showing profit?

Bottom Line...
Amazon’s generous return policy creates an incentive for customers to abuse the system, AND THEY DO! Small sellers are the ones paying for it. The current system assumes customers are always right, even when they're proven wrong, and sellers are left to prove their innocence after the fact — even when the abuse is obvious.
Given the high fees that sellers already pay for FBA services, return verification should be included as a standard part of those services. By shifting all responsibility to sellers and requiring them to jump through hoops to correct issues caused by dishonest returns, Amazon exposes small businesses to avoidable financial harm. A more balanced approach would include proper inspection protocols, fair adjudication of claims, and greater transparency in the reimbursement process.
Seems this will (never) happen because this system benefits Amazon monetarily.

Will someone with authority actually see this and do something about it?
Probably not. It's Amazon. They're not happy until we're not happy.

Amazon makes money processing returns, they have Zero Incentive to help 3PL sellers.
A option to block repeat returners would drastically cut down on returns, but Amazon is simply unwilling to implement this feature.
They are busy changing the dashboard and do other silly things, but when it comes down to actually improving on business, they are not willing to do that.
