Packaging and labeling guidelines for dangerous goods

Dangerous goods (also called Hazardous Materials or ‘hazmat’) are defined by Amazon and/or by various regulatory bodies as substances or materials that can pose an unreasonable risk to health, safety, or property in storage, handling or transport. You are expected to adhere to guidelines in order to be compliant with the special regulations and procedures for shipping dangerous goods.

Only certain dangerous goods are allowed to be shipped through Amazon Easy Ship. For example, you are allowed to ship mobile phones, laptops, etc. that contain non-standalone Lithium batteries. You cannot ship most other hazmat items, including some types of standalone batteries. You can refer to the list of items allowed and restricted through Easy Ship here.

Following are the guidelines to ship dangerous goods in a manner that is safe and compliant with The International Air Transport Association (IATA) - Dangerous Goods Regulation (DGR) regulations:

  • Pack the products in a sturdy outer packaging with sufficient cushioning on the inner side.
  • Stick a Lithium battery label (see the image below) on the outer-most packaging of the product for all orders containing items with lithium batteries.
  • For shipping products containing lithium batteries, make sure that you have additional packaging over the manufacturer’s box and never ship the item only in the manufacturer’s packaging.

Please affix a label / warning in English (and ideally in Arabic as well). See below an example of an English-language label which should be pasted on the dangerous goods package:
